Fragility and Strength are the same. The moment is now.

Leaf

Today I had the day that so many of us creatives have. Hours on the phone with various tech support people chasing phantom bogus passwords; sticky stuff on the bottom of a pan; distracting and/or negative communications — all land like soft barbed arrows as I turned one corner or another along my projected and planned trajectory.

By the time the second Zoom class was over, I was ready to empty my mind. I took a walk to the mailbox. Over the last several weeks I have practiced this meditative walking. It allows me to see the trick of light on a birds wing , the reflections in the windows on the house at the top of the hill; and in this case, the turn of a leaf, spinning on a near-invisible thread.

This leaf was moving so fast! I watched it for a while, wondering when it would blow away, but it didn’t. The above image is arrested motion, a moment so fragile, the leaf so dry that it would crumble at a touch, if something ran up against it.

The time we have right now is fragile. This is the time to remember the importance of the creative human spirit — to allow the muse within us to shine out, and bring light into every corner. We can never know whether if we do not seize the moment, we will be blown off the thread, willy-nilly. I choose to exercise my freedom to choose. I can allow the gifts I have to shine through, to find my creativity and the art work that all needs to be made, by giving myself permission to work.

I am looking forward to working with many of you out there, too.
